Katie is a board-certified, licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in Maryland with a masters degree in School Psychology from Towson University and additional training and experience from the

Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore.  Katie’s education, experience,

and training allow her to assist families who present with

a variety of stressors or concerns.

Counseling

Katie works with her clients to identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil.  She helps individuals improve their communication skills, strengthen their self-esteem, and promote behavior change and optimal mental health.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Katie uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as one of her approaches to help clients improve their mental health by changing unhelpful thoughts.  With CBT, the client gains a better understanding of the behavior and uses problem solving skills to deal with difficult situations.

Child and 
Family Therapy

Katie has training in child and family therapy which allows her to assist children and their families who are impacted by a variety of stressors

surrounding their child's behavior including divorce/separation, bullying, blended families, peer conflict, transition to a new environment,

or lack of social support.

Treatment Approach

Katie provides high-quality treatment to children of all ages, including adolescents, and their families to address a wide range of behavioral difficulties and challenges. She utilizes clinically sound, evidence-based, family-focused treatment and collaborates with parents along the way.  She begins the therapy process by developing a customized treatment plan and goals and is able to focus on a number of concerns including academic challenges, anger management/tantrums/aggression, anxiety, ADHD, bedwetting/toileting problems, family issues, destructive behavior, executive function difficulties, noncompliance/rules violations, relationship issues, parenting difficulties, fears, school behavior, sleep problems,

social skills, and verbal abuse.

Katie utilizes an integrative model to psychotherapy and combines different therapeutic tools and approaches to meet the needs of her individual clients.  With a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Katie can also help clients challenge their negative thoughts

and develop a more positive mindset.

Katie brings a healing presence to the therapy she provides and offers a warm, caring environment that's not only welcoming, but also free from judgment.  By providing a safe space, she strives to provide her clients with the necessary tools to feel empowered to move forward

and create positive futures.
